Mr Edward Branford

Associate Lecturer in Applied Data Science
Environmental Mathematics Group

I am an Associate Lecturer within the Centre for Environmental Mathematics on the University of Exeter's Penryn Campus. I teach on the Fundamentals of Data Science module and the Applied AI and Control module, as well as helping with the Tackling Sustainability Challenges with Data and Models module. I am interested in the mathematics underpinning machine learning and the ethics of AI in modern society, which ties in with my research interest in inequality.

My background is in physics but my current research areas are systems and control theory and its application to the study of economic systems. My main interest in the sphere of economic systems are banking hypotheses and Integrated Assessment Models and the effect they both have on inequality.
