Katie Murray
Postgraduate Researcher
Environmental Mathematics Group
I am a doctoral researcher at the University of Exeter, supervised by Dr Kimberley Hockings, Prof Dave Hodgson, Prof Markus Mueller, and Dr MD Sharma. My research uses camera-trap video footage of critically endangered western chimpanzees (Pan troglodytes verus) to develop deep learning models capable of identifying individuals within a study community and detecting visually recognisable symptoms of tropical diseases such as leprosy.
This project is funded by the UKRI Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC). Fieldwork has been supported by the Re:wild Primate Action Fund and Primate Conservation Inc. (PCI).
