Senior Tutor and Academic Lead for EDI for the Department of Earth and Environmental Science.

I am an Applied Geologist with an MSc in Mining Engineering, Diploma in Gemmology, and widespread exposure to the mining and quarrying industries. I have experience working in industry, research, and academia; with the majority of my career focused on higher education. My career started in gold mining in Western Australia, followed by collaborative industry–academic research, and I have now been working in academia for just over 16 years. This has included working with companies as diverse as De Beers on specialist education for diamond industry staff and Tarmac on aggregate deposit sampling and resource estimation. I have extensive experience in developing industry-aligned teaching and assessments. I am currently a full-time Senior Lecturer teaching undergraduate and MSc students, with experience in developing and introducing new modules and programmes. I am also Senior Tutor  and Director of Education and Student Experience. In addition, I have held the position of Director of EDI for the Department of Earth and Environmental Science. I am an education focused academic with extensive leadership experience in designing, delivering and managing a portfolio of higher education programmes at both undergraduate and postgraduate level.
