My work is embedded within the Deep time global change research group at the University of Exeter and jointly funded by the NERC GW4+ DTP and BGS. I have recently submitted my PhD thesis, and am awaiting my viva voce. My PhD research is in palaeoclimate reconstruction, looking specifically at Oceanic Anoxic Events (OAEs) in the mid-Cretaceous.
OAEs are associated with a major upheaval in the global carbon cycle, changes to ocean chemistry and oxygen availability, and associated increases in biotic turnover. I use stable isotope and radiogenic geochemistry, organic geochemistry, and micropalaeontological investigations to reconstruct carbon cycle perturbations, sediment provenance, sea surface temperature changes, biological responses and productivity changes.
